Senior Software Engineer, Network Automation
We are partnering with a well-funded infrastructure and technology organization that is building and scaling mission-critical compute and cloud platforms. This team is responsible for developing the automation, tooling, and services that support large-scale network infrastructure across global environments.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced engineer who is equally comfortable writing production-grade Python and solving complex networking challenges. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, network engineering, and infrastructure automation, with a focus on building scalable, reliable, and self-service networking solutions.
You will work closely with network, platform, and security teams to automate network provisioning, lifecycle management, observability, and operational workflows across large-scale infrastructure environments. This is a highly hands-on position with significant ownership and impact.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain network automation platforms and tooling
- Develop software and APIs that enable self-service network operations
- Automate network provisioning, configuration management, and infrastructure lifecycle processes
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jinja2
- Integrate automation workflows into CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
- Build observability, monitoring, and telemetry solutions for network infrastructure
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Participate in troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis activities
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or network automation
- Strong Python development skills and software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jinja2
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, load balancing, and network security
- Experience with Kubernetes, containerized environments, and cloud-native infrastructure
- Familiarity with CI/CD, distributed systems, observability, and platform engineering principles
- Strong Linux experience and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to drive projects from design through production ownership
Preferred
- Experience with BGP, OSPF, VRFs, VLANs, ACLs, and firewall technologies
- Experience working with Cisco, Arista, or Juniper environments
- Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, or event-driven architectures
- Experience supporting large-scale cloud, data center, or distributed infrastructure
- Exposure to AI/ML applications within infrastructure or automation environments
Location Dallas, TX preferred.
Compensation: 180k - 220k base
