GR - Thunder Compute - C++ Developer

Systems Software Engineer (C++)

Seeking a highly technical systems engineer to develop performance-critical infrastructure and software focused on maximizing compute efficiency, networking throughput, and resource utilization in large-scale GPU environments. This role combines low-level systems programming, optimization, debugging, and research, with direct ownership of production systems and significant influence on future technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize high-performance systems software using modern C++.
  • Improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability across GPU-accelerated infrastructure and distributed computing environments.
  • Investigate and resolve complex performance bottlenecks involving networking, compute, memory, and hardware interactions.
  • Develop low-level software components supporting high-throughput, latency-sensitive workloads.
  • Conduct benchmarking, profiling, and systems analysis to drive performance improvements.
  • Debug production issues across operating systems, networking stacks, and hardware interfaces.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to evaluate new technologies, architectures, and optimization strategies.
  • Take ownership of critical infrastructure components and contribute to long-term platform architecture.
  • Mentor team members and help establish engineering best practices as the organization grows.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in C++ with a proven track record building complex systems software.
  • Deep understanding of operating systems, networking, compilers, concurrency, and computer architecture.
  • Experience optimizing performance in GPU, HPC, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or latency-sensitive environments.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, and performance-tuning capabilities across software and hardware layers.
  • Familiarity with modern Linux environments and low-level systems development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to operate effectively under pressure.
  • Experience in quantitative trading, hardware acceleration, distributed computing, systems research, or infrastructure engineering is preferred.
  • Background working with GPUs, networking hardware, high-performance computing, or large-scale cloud platforms is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field preferred but will also consider someone without.
