Kubernetes engineer
We are seeking an experienced Senior Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer to join a high-performing platform engineering team responsible for operating and evolving a large-scale Kubernetes environment.
This is a highly technical, infrastructure-focused role suited to engineers who have built, engineered, and supported Kubernetes platforms in production environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, optimising, and maintaining enterprise-grade Kubernetes infrastructure supporting critical services and applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale Kubernetes infrastructure in production environments.
- Manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters across Linux-based platforms.
- Implement and support advanced Kubernetes networking solutions, including Cilium and other CNI technologies.
- Configure and optimise workload scheduling capabilities within Kubernetes environments.
- Investigate and resolve complex performance, networking, scalability, and reliability issues.
- Develop automation, tooling, and operational improvements to support platform efficiency.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to enhance resilience, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Drive improvements in observability, monitoring, and platform reliability.
- Contribute to platform engineering initiatives and infrastructure architecture decisions.
Required Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience engineering and operating Kubernetes platforms in production environments.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including:
- Cluster architecture
- Scheduling and resource management
- Control plane operations
- Networking and service discovery
- Strong experience with Kubernetes networking technologies, including:
- Cilium
- CNI plugins
- Network policies
- Service networking
- Experience optimising Kubernetes workload scheduling and cluster utilisation.
- Strong Linux systems administration experience across environments such as Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, or Debian.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across Linux and Kubernetes ecosystems.
- Experience automating infrastructure through scripting and tooling using Bash, Python, or Go.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure, networking, and distributed systems principles.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability, or high-performance environments.
- Bare-metal Kubernetes deployments.
- Platform Engineering and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) experience.
- Observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
- Experience operating within regulated, complex, or mission-critical environments.
