Security Engineer

Overview

The Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the organization's core security foundations, ensuring robust protection of critical systems, infrastructure, and sensitive data. Working in a greenfield environment, this individual will partner closely with the Chief Information Security Officer to establish a scalable, resilient, and forward-looking security posture.

This is a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary role that blends hands-on engineering with architectural leadership across cloud, infrastructure, and application security domains. The position offers the opportunity to build and shape a modern security program from the ground up, directly influencing system architecture, security strategy, and operational processes while supporting continued growth through a secure, scalable foundation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across infrastructure, cloud platforms, and applications.
• Build and mature detection and response capabilities, including alerting systems, canaries, and honeypots to proactively identify threats.
• Develop and manage authentication and authorization frameworks for both human and non-human identities.
• Establish and enforce security standards, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory and business requirements.
• Partnering with Engineering and Operations to embed security best practices into development and deployment workflows.
• Strengthen infrastructure and cloud security to protect highly sensitive, high-value environments.
• Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making to ensure long-term scalability and resilience.
• Partner with leadership to define and execute security strategy and roadmap initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Strong expertise in infrastructure, cloud, and application security.
• Deep understanding of authentication and authorization systems, including identity and access management.
• Experience designing and implementing certificate authority (CA) architectures.
• Hands-on experience with detection engineering, alerting pipelines, and deception technologies.
• Familiarity with security standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance frameworks.
• Ability to translate complex security requirements into scalable, practical solutions.

Preferred

• Experience working in greenfield or rapidly scaling environments.
• Exposure to highly regulated or data-intensive industries.
• Background partnering with senior leadership, including CISO-level stakeholders.
• Experience embedding security into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
