Role Overview
The Global Database Engineering team is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support a combination of cloud transformation, automation initiatives and operational reliability across Oracle and SQL‑based environments.
This role focuses on engineering, migration, incident support and platform optimisation, working as part of a collaborative technical team. The position requires strong hands‑on Oracle expertise, experience in cloud migration (AWS), robust automation skills and the ability to support critical database services across EMEA.
The mission includes activities related to engineering, monitoring, incident resolution, replication, backup, disaster recovery, and improvement of automation frameworks. Participation in an on‑call rotation will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to engineering efforts within a global DBA team, supporting cloud transition and infrastructure optimisation.
- Lead activities across cloud migration, automation, replication engineering and auto‑healing frameworks.
- Consolidate and enhance metrics, dashboards and monitoring solutions.
- Support Oracle and SQL database servers across EMEA, including incident management, changes, migrations and DRP.
- Deliver and maintain solutions for backup, cloning and database recovery (DATAPUMP, RMAN).
- Work with replication technologies including GoldenGate and DataGuard.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams as part of global engineering projects.
- Participate in on‑call rotations as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Oracle administration experience.
- Knowledge of additional technologies such as SQL Server, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Hadoop (nice to have).
- Strong exposure to AWS environments and cloud migration.
- Experience with Oracle RAC clusters.
- Expertise in backup, cloning and migration using DATAPUMP and RMAN.
- Disaster recovery skills using DataGuard.
- Strong Linux (Red Hat) experience.
- Monitoring exposure with tools such as OEM, Sitescope, Prometheus, Dynatrace.
- Automation and scripting skills (Python, Java, PowerShell, Terraform).
- CI/CD or automation orchestration experience (Ansible, AWX, similar).
- Fluent in English (read/spoken/written).
