GCP Architect

Our client is seeking a Lead Cloud Platform Architect (GCP) to play a key role in advancing its Cloud First strategy. This position is central to designing and delivering the GCP Foundation Platform, enabling scalable, secure, and compliant cloud adoption across the organisation. You will work closely with enterprise, security, and data architects to define and implement cloud strategy, while providing leadership across platform engineering teams. This role combines hands-on architectural expertise, strategic influence, and stakeholder engagement across global business and technology teams.
Key responsibilties:
- Lead the design and evolution of the GCP platform, ensuring scalability, resilience, and security
- Collaborate with Enterprise Cloud Architects to shape and deliver cloud strategy aligned to business priorities
- Define and implement best practices for cloud architecture, including networking, IAM, security controls, and compliance frameworks
- Drive alignment across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), including tooling, governance, automation, and onboarding standards
- Partner with Cloud Security and Data Architecture teams to ensure robust and compliant cloud solutions
- Provide technical leadership and escalation support to engineering and platform teams
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements relevant to financial services and outsourced cloud environments
- Champion cloud adoption by evangelising best practices, standards, and innovation across the organisation
Experience required:
- Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in enterprise environments
- Deep knowledge of GCP services, including compute, storage, networking, IAM, security, and governance
- Proven experience operating as a Cloud or Platform Architect within large, complex organisations
- Strong understanding of cloud networking and migration from traditional on-premise environments
- Experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes and platform-led change
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments and cross-platform integration
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within financial services
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels
- Background in engineering (software, infrastructure, or data) strongly preferred
