Location: Waukegan, IL (Onsite)
I'm partnering with a large, established organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help drive the evolution of their cloud-native platform and microservices architecture. This is an opportunity to work on highly scalable systems, modernize infrastructure, and contribute to a growing engineering organization that supports mission-critical business operations across North America.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Help drive the transition to a resilient, always-on microservices architecture
- Deploy and manage applications within Kubernetes/OpenShift environments
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers
- Improve system monitoring, observability, and performance across distributed services
- Contribute to modern CI/CD and GitOps deployment practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact software solutions
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Java development and SQL
- 5+ years building and supporting microservices using Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms, ideally OpenShift
- Experience building and scaling distributed, cloud-native applications
- Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and best engineering practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Elastic Stack, or Dynatrace
- Exposure to GitOps practices and CI/CD tools such as Argo CD or Tekton
- Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability systems
