About the Role
A fast-growing, global financial technology firm is seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team protecting both traditional finance and digital asset platforms. Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll define and execute the security engineering vision, guiding a team of hands-on engineers to build and automate cutting-edge controls across cloud, application, and detection domains.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a multi-year security engineering strategy aligned with risk and regulatory requirements.
- Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier security engineers. Set clear goals and foster career growth.
- Architecture Oversight: Lead secure-by-default designs for AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and crypto custody systems.
- Automation & Scale: Drive automation of vulnerability discovery and remediation using Python and infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Operations, and IT to embed security early in product lifecycles.
- Threat Intelligence: Oversee research into emerging threats (e.g., DeFi exploits, cloud privilege escalation) and translate findings into actionable defenses.
- Governance & Readiness: Define incident response playbooks, ensure 24/7 detection coverage, and present security metrics to leadership.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in security engineering, including 3+ years leading high-performance teams in fintech, exchanges, or large-scale web environments.
- Deep expertise in cloud security, application security, detection engineering, or crypto security.
- Proven experience deploying automated security pipelines (IaC scanning, secret detection, exploit simulations).
- Strong coding skills in Python, Go, or Rust, and familiarity with microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience with threat modeling for high-value, low-latency trading or custody systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical risks to senior stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Leadership experience in tier-one financial institutions or regulated crypto venues.
- Knowledge of custody models, MPC wallets, or DeFi smart contract risks.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
