About the Company:
Our client is a major player in the industrial manufacturing sector, operating complex production environments supported by a wide range of business-critical IT systems. As part of a broader digital transformation initiative, the organization is evaluating strategies to modernize its legacy mainframe infrastructure. This is the first phase of a wider transformation program, with long-term implementation planned.

Project Objective:
The mission focuses on conducting a comprehensive feasibility study for the decommissioning of legacy applications currently running on a Mainframe Natural/Adabas environment. These applications are critical to industrial production and interface with both internal systems and real-time industrial control systems. The consultant will have the opportunity to remain involved in subsequent phases of the transformation, including solution implementation and strategic advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a detailed analysis of the existing application landscape
  • Map out all relevant programs, databases, batch jobs, and interfaces (ERP, MES, N2/N3 systems)
  • Identify technical and functional dependencies within the IT ecosystem
  • Propose viable migration or transformation scenarios, including:
  • Automated code transformation
  • Full or partial re-engineering
  • Hybrid approaches
  • Estimate costs, timelines, risks, and resource requirements for each scenario.
  • Deliver a comprehensive report with recommendations and comparative analysis.
  • Support planning for future implementation phases based on selected migration strategy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with legacy system analysis, particularly Natural/Adabas on mainframe.
  • Strong understanding of industrial IT environments and real-time system constraints.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MES, and industrial control systems (N2/N3).
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional IT and business teams.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and high-availability system requirements.
  • Ability to contribute to long-term transformation planning and stakeholder engagement.
