IBM MQ Engineering Specialist
Glocomms is partnered with a global Wealth Management firm seeking a Systems and Data Engineer to support next‑generation data messaging and streaming integration solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high‑energy environments, enjoys automation, and can stabilize and support critical applications across IBM MQ (v9.3+), IBM ACE (v12+), BAW, ODM, and Kafka. You'll work closely with architecture, development, DevOps, and support teams across Windows, Linux, containers, microservices, Kubernetes, Chef, Jenkins, and more.
What you'll work on:
- Designing, installing, upgrading, analyzing, documenting, and automating messaging solutions for Java and .NET applications on Windows, Linux, and HP NonStop
- Supporting and engineering with IBM MQ, JMS, AMQ, Kafka
- Using DevOps tools such as Chef, Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Ansible
- Working with integration platforms including IBM ACE, ODI, BAW, and ODM
- Leveraging monitoring tools: Splunk, Dynatrace, IR360, IBM MQ Web Administrator, MQ Explorer
- Using CI/CD tools: Chef, Jenkins, TFS
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement stable, secure, resilient integration architectures
- Partner with development and architecture teams to deliver scalable integration solutions
- Serve as product owner for IBM integration products and establish best‑practice standards
- Support lifecycle management, including roadmaps and system retirement
- Improve business continuity and disaster recovery documentation
- Automate processes to enable offshore teams to manage support and change requests
- Ensure SLAs for platform availability and reliability
- Communicate roadmap updates, issues, and platform changes with architecture, development, QA, and IT leadership
- Maintain run books and problem‑resolution documentation
- Provide support for IBM integration products, including participation in after‑hours and on‑call rotations (minimized through automation)
Required experience:
- 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education/training
- Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Systems Analysis
- Engineering experience with:
- IBM MQ (v9.3+)
- IBM ACE (v12+)
- Enterprise monitoring implementation
- Automation using Shell scripting, PowerShell, Python, Ansible
- Running messaging platforms on Linux with RDQM
Preferred experience:
- IBM MQ Certification
- Mentoring teams on IBM MQ best practices
- MQ integration with BPM/BAW
- CCDT file implementation
- Kafka and other event‑streaming technologies
- IBM ACE, WAS, BAW, ODM
- Web platforms: IIS, Apache, JBoss, Nginx
- Monitoring tools: Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk
- IaC tools: Chef, Puppet, Ansible
- CI tools: Jenkins, TFS, Git
- Cloud experience: AWS (preferred), GCP, Azure
- ServiceNow workflow automation
- Understanding of Java/.NET code design patterns for messaging
- Networking and security fundamentals (TCP/IP)
- Project and change management practices
