Oveview:
As Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations you will be accountable for the reliability, scalability, and effectiveness of the organisation's technology infrastructure, supporting internal operations, engineering teams, and customer‑facing platforms. This is a senior leadership role combining technical ownership, organisational strategy, and cultural stewardship. You will define direction, remove complexity, and ensure infrastructure enables innovation, not friction. You'll be working for one of our key clients in the banking space.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and evolve a cross‑functional organisation covering IT operations, infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud and EUC
- Own service levels, availability, and resilience across business‑critical platforms.
- Oversee cloud‑first infrastructure while remaining accountable for physical environments and EUC where applicable.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational maturity.
- Champion modern tooling and architectural patterns that reduce cognitive load and increase engineering autonomy.
- Set and execute the long‑term IT infrastructure and operations strategy
- Drive buy‑vs‑build decisions with strong commercial and technical judgement.
- Manage supplier relationships and third‑party dependencies strategically.
- Ensure effective disaster recovery, business continuity, and system uptime.
- Own cost efficiency initiatives across cloud, vendors, and internal delivery.
- Partner closely with product, engineering, and security leaders to shape enterprise architecture.
- Ensure strong adherence to security best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Define and embed policies, standards, and operating models that scale.
- Lead technology‑wide initiatives that improve consistency, resilience, and quality.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing leadership team.
- Provide clear direction while empowering teams to take ownership.
- Use data and measurable outcomes to guide priorities and decisions.
Skills required:
- Proven experience leading people managers and senior technology leaders.
- Accountability for end‑to‑end delivery across the software and infrastructure lifecycle.
- Strong ability to translate business outcomes into technical execution.
- Confident decision‑making in complex, high‑impact environments
- Deep experience in cloud computing and platform operations.
- Strong grounding in enterprise infrastructure, reliability, and security.
- Experience delivering technology in regulated or highly controlled environments.
- Hands‑on understanding of incident management, DR, and operational risk.
- Demonstrated success managing strategic suppliers and third parties.
- Comfortable engaging senior stakeholders and bringing them on the journey.
- Experience influencing across product, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Background working within geographically distributed or global IT organisations
