Title: Operational Technology Engineer
Location: Fort Smith, AR - On-site
Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 base salary range
Glocomms are partnered with a leading business in the Beverage industry in the search for an Operational Technology Engineer to shape and maintain secure and efficient Operational Technology (OT) framework across its North American clients. The OT Engineer will be instrumental in building a dependable manufacturing technology environment, aligning with internal best practices and contributing to a broader global knowledge-sharing network. The role emphasizes a strong commitment to quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and product integrity.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
OT Network Oversight
- Architect, oversee, and safeguard OT network infrastructure.
- Administer firewall configurations, remote connectivity, wireless systems, and switch settings.
- Monitor network health, respond to hardware issues (e.g., servers, switches, firewalls), and manage firmware/OS updates.
Security & Patch Management
- Stay informed on security advisories and evaluate patching requirements.
- Test and implement updates across OT/IT systems, including workstations and network devices.
- Track and manage updates for OT applications and control systems.
OT Systems Administration
- Manage virtual environments, including template design, provisioning, and backup strategies.
- Ensure endpoint security and enforce compliance with local OT standards.
Security Operations & Governance
- Guarantee availability of OT applications and manage data backup and recovery processes.
- Support third-party integrations and maintain comprehensive OT network documentation.
- Integrate security considerations into project planning and execution.
Active Directory & Domain Services
- Maintain domain infrastructure, including GPOs, DNS, and organizational unit structures.
Incident Response
- Lead response efforts for cybersecurity events, including communication, recovery, and documentation.
- Address non-cyber incidents and validate disaster recovery protocols.
- Analyze logs and correlate data to identify potential threats.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Engage with global OT experts to share insights and drive operational improvements.
Industrial Automation & IIoT Initiatives
- Support digital transformation efforts such as Industry 4.0, MES, and IIoT.
- Lead or assist in automation and instrumentation projects.
- Maintain flexibility and strategic direction of site automation systems.
- Develop and troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems and oversee project implementation.
- Design and supervise installation and commissioning of automation infrastructure.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with enterprise and industrial technology platforms, including network hardware (e.g., Cisco), server environments (e.g., Microsoft Server), virtualization tools (e.g., VMware), and automation systems from vendors like Rockwell, Siemens, and Allen Bradley.
- Deep familiarity with Rockwell's suite of tools, such as FactoryTalk components (Directory, View SE/ME, AssetCentre), used in industrial control and visualization.
- Skilled in managing Microsoft SQL databases, including tasks like user access control, data recovery, and report generation; working knowledge of Oracle systems and Microsoft Reporting Services.
- Comfortable with basic administration of Linux-based operating systems.
- Over five years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems in manufacturing or industrial settings.
- Proven track record in developing and executing cybersecurity measures tailored to operational technology environments.
- Solid understanding of IT fundamentals across the platforms mentioned, with the ability to bridge IT and OT domains.
- Highly proactive and capable of independently identifying technical needs, planning and executing tests, resolving issues, and delivering robust solutions.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to balance operational priorities in continuous production environments, while maintaining system integrity and minimizing downtime.
- Strong communicator who can translate technical changes and risks into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
