What You'll Own
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
- Establish and continuously refine the organization's enterprise architecture vision across platforms, applications, data, and AI.
- Define durable architectural guardrails, standards, and blueprints to guide engineering teams.
- Ensure technology initiatives are aligned with business priorities and future-state product strategy.
- Chair or guide architecture reviews to validate designs against requirements for security, scalability, resilience, and operability.
AI & Data Platform Design
- Provide architectural leadership for AI and analytics platforms, including data pipelines and model lifecycle infrastructure.
- Design end-to-end AI architectures covering ingestion, feature engineering, training, deployment, inference, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with platform engineering, data science, and AI teams to ensure shared services and MLOps capabilities are consistent and reusable.
- Promote modern system design patterns such as loosely coupled services, event-driven architectures, and API-led integration.
Cloud & Integration Architecture
- Define cloud architecture frameworks for AWS-hosted SaaS products, including identity, networking, security controls, observability, and disaster recovery.
- Architect scalable data environments that support operational reporting, advanced analytics, and machine learning workloads.
- Set interoperability and integration patterns connecting internal systems, external partners, and customer environments.
- Balance performance, elasticity, cost efficiency, and reliability in architectural decision-making.
Product & Delivery Enablement
- Translate product vision and roadmap initiatives into extensible platform architectures.
- Drive architectural reuse across multiple products and shared foundational services.
- Support complex customer deployments and strategic initiatives with solution-level guidance.
- Influence technology selection decisions across cloud services, tooling, platforms, and AI solutions.
Trust, Compliance & Responsible Technology
- Ensure architectural approaches meet applicable regulatory, quality, and data protection requirements across global markets.
- Integrate security-by-design, audit readiness, traceability, and validation principles into architecture standards.
- Enable responsible use of AI by embedding governance, transparency, and model accountability into platform designs.
- Partner with security, compliance, and quality functions to sustain validated, inspection-ready systems.
Strategy & Thought Leadership
- Define long-range architectural roadmaps aligned with organizational growth and platform evolution.
- Assess emerging technologies across AI, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and developer tooling.
- Advise senior leadership on architectural risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
- Coach and mentor architects and senior engineers across teams.
Required Experience
- 10+ years in enterprise, solution, or platform architecture roles supporting complex systems.
- Extensive experience in life sciences, clinical research, or regulated healthcare technology environments.
- Proven success designing AWS-based, cloud-native platforms at enterprise scale.
- Hands-on experience delivering AI-enabled or data-heavy platforms into production.
- Strong background in distributed systems, data modeling, security architecture, and enterprise integration.
- Experience collaborating within agile or product-led engineering organizations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
Preferred Experience
- AWS certifications, including advanced or AI-focused credentials.
- Experience defining MLOps frameworks and AI platform governance.
- Working knowledge of clinical data models, regulated validation processes, or industry standards.
- Technical fluency with languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, .NET, Spark, relational databases, and AWS managed services.
- Experience with APIs, event-streaming, and enterprise integration tooling.
- Previous participation in architecture councils or formal design authority roles.
