Full Stack Developer - Equity Research - Consultant
NO C2C , NO 3RD PARTIES , NO SPONSORSHIP - W2 ONLY
6 month initial contract - possible evenutal renewal or T2H
The Role
We are hiring a senior, hands‑on Full Stack Engineer to sit directly with equity researchers and portfolio managers, building modern, user‑facing research tools that are used daily to drive investment decisions.
This is not a platform, infrastructure, or backend‑only role.
The focus is front‑office research tooling: fast iteration, clean UX, and pragmatic engineering.
You will:
- Build and own React‑based research applications used by PMs and analysts
- Design and implement data‑heavy dashboards, workflows, and analytics views
- Partner directly with researchers to turn ideas into production features quickly
- Develop Python and/or C# services that power research UIs
- Work end‑to‑end: UI → APIs → SQL → production support
This role is best suited to engineers who enjoy shipping features, not designing frameworks.
What "Good" Looks Like (Non‑Negotiable): We are explicitly looking for engineers who meet most or all of the following:
Frontend‑first Full Stack
- React is a primary skill, not "familiar with"
- Experience building complex, data‑driven UIs
- Strong state management (Redux, Context, or similar)
- Experience with tables, grids, charts, or real‑time UI updates
Backend that supports the UI
- Strong Python and/or C# (.NET) experience
- RESTful API design and implementation
- SQL Server / relational database experience (writing real queries, not just ORMs)
Financial markets context
- Experience working in financial services (hedge fund, bank, asset manager, or market‑data firm)
- Exposure to research, trading, or analytics tools
- Familiarity with market data (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Reuters, etc.) is a strong plus
Senior individual contributor
- You are still hands‑on day‑to‑day
- Comfortable owning features end‑to‑end
- Able to work with ambiguity and move fast in a front‑office environment
What This Role Is Not
To be very clear, this role is not a fit if your background is primarily:
- Backend / platform / infrastructure engineering
- Desktop (WPF / WinForms)‑heavy development
- Enterprise architecture or governance‑led roles
- OMS / risk / regulatory systems with little modern web UI
- Engineering management or team‑lead‑only positions
If React and user‑facing product work are not where you spend most of your time, this will not be the right role.
Why This Role Is Attractive
- Work directly with PMs and researchers - no layers of bureaucracy
- Build tools that directly influence investment decisions
- Modern web stack with real ownership
- High‑impact, high‑visibility work inside a top‑tier fund
