Data Enablement Engineer
We are seeking a Data Enablement Specialist/Engineer to join our central data platform function at a large global technology‑driven organisation. In this role, you will act as the bridge between data producers, data consumers, and platform engineering teams-enabling technical teams to get the best out of our internal data ecosystem. You will empower engineering teams through hands‑on support, structured training, and continuous improvement of development practices across the business.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, coaching teams, and advocating for modern data engineering workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
Platform Guidance & Technical Support
- Work closely with data engineers and data scientists to help troubleshoot issues and guide them through platform-related challenges.
- Identify and help teams manage technical debt, introducing tools and processes that reduce recurring problems (e.g., automated testing, workflow automation, AI-assisted tools).
- Partner with platform engineering groups to enhance the end‑to‑end developer experience.
Community Building & Advocacy
- Encourage teams to adopt platform capabilities by demonstrating practical value in day‑to‑day operations.
- Stay current with emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices in the data engineering ecosystem.
- Build and nurture a community of practice to share knowledge, highlight improvements, and promote data platform innovations.
Upskilling & Education
- Evaluate teams' familiarity with platform tools and help design training plans to raise proficiency.
- Deliver workshops, demos, and technical documentation that make the platform easier to understand and use.
Continuous Feedback & Improvement
- Collect and synthesise feedback from engineering teams to support future platform enhancements.
- Validate platform components by designing relevant tests and ensuring they align with real usage patterns.
- Represent the needs of data practitioners internally and ensure their challenges are clearly communicated.
Background
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years working on data‑centric projects
Tech Environment You'll Work With
- AWS: S3, EMR, Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, CloudFormation
- Data Engineering: Airflow, Apache Iceberg
- DevOps & Tooling: Jenkins, SonarQube
- Software & Linters: Python
