Platform Security Lead

This is a highly visible role focused on shaping and executing platform security strategy across a complex, high-performance environment. Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the platform security strategy, aligning initiatives with business priorities and risk frameworks
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across platform, infrastructure, identity, AI/ML, server, and endpoint security domains
- Conduct security architecture reviews and system design evaluations to ensure robust, scalable security controls
- Enhance identity security capabilities, including identity architecture, access management, and Active Directory environments
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering and business teams to integrate security into infrastructure and application development lifecycles
- Implement risk-based prioritization approaches to balance security investments with business impact and operational efficiency
- Drive improvements across platform security, including endpoint protection, server hardening, and operating system security (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Standardize security practices, optimize tooling, and introduce automation to improve efficiency and consistency
- Mentor and develop engineers, fostering technical excellence, adaptability, and a high-performance team culture
- Lead stakeholder coordination and communication to ensure successful delivery of security initiatives in complex, fast-paced environments
Key Qualifications
- Extensive experience in security engineering, with a focus on platform and infrastructure security in complex environments
- Strong expertise in identity and access management, identity architecture, and enterprise identity platforms
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory and modern authentication/authorization frameworks
- Deep understanding of operating systems, endpoint protection tools, and server security best practices
- Proven ability to design scalable security controls within high-availability and low-latency systems
- Knowledge of AI/ML security principles and risks within modern platform architectures
- Demonstrated strength in pragmatic, risk-based decision-making and technical tradeoff analysis
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team growth and talent development
- Exposure to financial systems or regulated environments is a plus
This role is based in Chicago and operates on a hybrid working model, requiring consistent in-office collaboration alongside flexibility for remote work.
