Senior DevOps Engineer (Contract)
Location: London (Hybrid - 2 to 3 days onsite)
Contract Type: 6-12 months | Inside IR35
Day Rate: £650-£750 per day (depending on experience)
A leading financial institution is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its cloud platform team as an AWS subject matter expert. This is an excellent opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud engineering, security, and automation within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, scalable AWS infrastructure
- Automate CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning
- Collaborate with Information Security to implement robust cloud security controls
- Monitor and optimise system performance and cost
- Support containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
Required Skills and Experience
- Expertise in AWS (IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation/Terraform)
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS)
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and cloud security best practices
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go)
- Experience in financial services or regulated environments
Desirable
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies (e.g. Istio)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC 2)
