Senior Data Engineer - Data Security, Privacy & Protection

  • Location: Tampa FL, Southfields MI, Memphis TN, Remote with travel.
  • Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 base salary range.

Glocomms are partnered with a globally leading and prestigious Wealth Management firm, supporting the growth of their IT and Security teams across the US. We are searching for a Senior Data Engineer with experience in Cyber/Information Security to join the IT Enterprise Data Privacy & Protection team. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing solutions that support the firm's data protection and obfuscation efforts. This role is instrumental in ensuring the business can effectively discover, classify, encrypt, protect, and operationalize sensitive data across on-premise and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable, efficient solutions to identify, classify, secure, and encrypt sensitive data (e.g., PII, NPI) across multiple data sources.
  • Lead end-to-end efforts involving data inventory, discovery, cataloging, and protection across hybrid infrastructure.
  • Analyze discovery findings and translate them into actionable recommendations to improve data governance and compliance.
  • Utilize tools such as Informatica DPM and OneTrust to locate and classify sensitive data across structured and unstructured systems.
  • Configure and manage automated scans, develop pattern-matching rules, and curate discovery results for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the creation and deployment of data masking strategies using Informatica TDM to safeguard sensitive data in non-production environments.
  • Build and maintain masking rules and packages, and automate workflows using enterprise scheduling tools.
  • Contribute to development efforts involving Oracle and SQL databases in both cloud and on-prem deployments.
  • Participate in rotating on-call support for batch data protection processes, addressing operational issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with privacy, compliance, and infrastructure teams to align engineering practices with privacy frameworks.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field with 5-10 years of professional experience in data engineering, privacy, or a related discipline.
  • Expertise in Informatica Data Privacy Management (DPM), Test Data Management (TDM), and PowerCenter.
  • Hands-on experience with OneTrust's AI-powered data discovery and governance capabilities.
  • Strong Oracle SQL development skills and experience with automation in database environments.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, quality frameworks, and privacy compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Python for data discovery automation is highly beneficial.
  • Familiarity with BMC Control-M or similar scheduling tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience integrating OneTrust Privacy Automation with Informatica privacy tools.
  • Scripting skills in Python or R for automation and reporting.
  • Exposure to automated deployment pipelines and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and workflow automation tools.
  • Certifications: IAPP CIPP or related privacy certifications are a strong plus.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with privacy risk assessment tools and methodologies
  • Python programming experience, particularly using machine learning libraries for automating data discovery, is a strong plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with OneTrust Privacy Automation and integration with Informatica DPM/TDM
  • Scripting experience in Python and R
  • Exposure to automated deployment processes
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and collaboration tool integration

Certifications:

IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) is a significant advantage
