We're working with a global LegalTech innovator to find a Director of Engineering to lead their expansion into the Asia-Pacific region. This is a unique opportunity to be the first engineering leader on the ground in APAC, with the autonomy to shape the team, culture, and technical direction from day one.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and enjoys building from the ground up. You'll be responsible for launching and scaling engineering operations in APAC, collaborating closely with global teams to deliver impactful, user-focused solutions. You'll also play a key role in hiring and mentoring top talent, setting technical direction, and ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
What You'll Be Doing
- Establish and grow the APAC engineering function, starting with the Sydney office.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership - comfortable jumping into code or architecture discussions when needed.
- Collaborate with global Product and Design teams to deliver on a shared roadmap.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Drive hiring efforts in partnership with the People team to attract top-tier engineers.
- Champion scalable engineering practices and agile methodologies to support rapid growth.
- Promote a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
