About the Role

The team is looking for a seasoned and collaborative Director of Data Science - Fraud & Risk to lead efforts across various fraud domains, including third-party, first-party, synthetic fraud, and risk scoring. This leadership role involves guiding a diverse team of data scientists to build advanced AI/ML solutions that enhance fraud detection, risk modeling, and identity verification.

You'll be instrumental in designing and deploying deep learning models across multiple data types, directly contributing to the security and trustworthiness of digital ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing data science team, fostering an inclusive and innovative culture.
• Architect and optimize deep learning models (e.g., transformers, CNNs, LSTMs) to address fraud and risk challenges.
• Develop machine learning solutions using diverse data modalities such as structured data, text, images, and point clouds.
• Drive feature engineering and data mining initiatives to uncover meaningful insights from complex datasets.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and client-facing teams to deliver scalable AI solutions.
• Ensure robust practices in model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Stay current with advancements in AI and fraud prevention, integrating emerging techniques into the product.
• Represent the company as a subject-matter expert in internal and external forums.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (MS/PhD preferred) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning models in production environments.
• Familiarity with multiple data types, including tabular data, natural language, point clouds, and images.
• Proven leadership in managing and mentoring data science teams.
• Strong foundation in ML best practices, data preparation, and deployment pipelines.
• Expertise in feature engineering and data mining.
• Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in fraud prevention, risk modeling, fintech, or identity verification is a plus.
