AppSec Technical Lead
Glocomms is partnered with a leading investment firm seeking an Application Security Technical Lead to support the secure development and delivery of enterprise software platforms. This role focuses on strengthening application security practices while enabling efficient, scalable software delivery across teams.
Role Overview
The Application Security Technical Lead plays a key role in shaping and supporting application security capabilities across the organization. The position provides a mix of strategic guidance and hands-on technical contribution, working closely with engineering, product, and platform teams to incorporate security best practices into everyday development workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Application Security & Secure Development
- Support the development and ongoing improvement of secure software development practices across the organization.
- Contribute to application security standards, guidelines, and technical controls aligned with organizational requirements.
- Identify and assess application-level security risks and work with engineering teams on remediation approaches.
- Promote secure design and implementation patterns across applications, services, and APIs.
Security Tooling & Enablement
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of application security tools used throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in the evolution of security testing and monitoring capabilities within build and deployment pipelines.
- Help ensure security tools are effectively integrated into engineering workflows and delivery processes.
- Provide technical input on opportunities to enhance security automation and coverage.
Engineering & DevSecOps Collaboration
- Partner with engineering teams to embed security considerations into modern development and delivery practices.
- Support security-related initiatives within CI/CD, containerized environments, and cloud-based platforms.
- Act as a collaborative advisor on application security architecture and design decisions.
Leadership & Delivery Support
- Contribute to planning and execution of application security initiatives and improvement efforts.
- Assist in defining priorities, milestones, and objectives aligned with broader technology and risk goals.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders on security topics and progress.
- Provide support during delivery cycles to help balance security requirements with development timelines.
Operational & Incident Support
- Participate in application security incident response and investigation activities as needed.
- Support operational stability of security tooling and processes, including participation in on-call rotations when required.
- Assist with analysis of security events and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Experience & Skills
- Experience working in application security, software engineering, or related technical roles.
- Familiarity with secure development concepts, vulnerability management, and security testing approaches.
- Exposure to DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, and containerized applications.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and influence secure development practices.
- Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset.
