Role Overview
The Engineering Lead is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence across multiple value streams, including Retail, Workplace, and Customer Care. This position oversees the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, secure, and scalable delivery of business-critical features. You will play a key role in shaping the technology strategy, fostering innovation, and aligning engineering outcomes with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve the engineering strategy across customer engagement channels, including microservices, cloud-native platforms (AWS), and DevSecOps.
- Lead platform engineering initiatives and architectural governance across value streams.
- Ensure rapid and reliable delivery of business features with measurable outcomes (e.g., user engagement, transaction volumes).
- Shape and lead large-scale transformation programmes, aligning technology solutions with customer goals.
- Collaborate with account architects to present unified architectural visions and secure stakeholder buy-in.
- Represent engineering in governance forums, ensuring compliance, security, and operational resilience.
- Build high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams aligned with agile delivery models.
- Partner with business stakeholders across the business
- Champion platform engineering accelerators to drive innovation and client retention.
- Identify opportunities for technology-led business value creation and differentiation.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- 2-3 + years in senior technology leadership position within an SME
- Proven ability to advise and engage with C-suite stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated success in leading technology strategy and solutioning for large-scale programmes.
- Expertise in microservices architecture and cloud-native technologies (AWS).
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Python, Angular, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Deep knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, and platform engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Exposure to frontend frameworks and micro frontends.
