Glocomms is partnering with a leading regional healthcare organization to identify a skilled Network Engineer to support and enhance its mission‑critical enterprise network infrastructure. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable, secure, and high‑performance connectivity across clinical and business operations within a 24/7 hospital environment.


Role Overview

The Network Engineer will design, implement, and maintain complex LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SDWAN environments that underpin clinical systems and healthcare information platforms. Working across multi‑site hospital and outpatient facilities, the engineer ensures high availability, regulatory compliance, and seamless delivery of applications such as Epic and Cerner.


Core Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure

  • Designs, deploys, and maintains enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SDWAN architectures.
  • Supports cloud networking across AWS and Azure, including Azure VNET, ExpressRoute, and vWAN.
  • Configures and optimizes routing/switching using TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Contributes to SDN strategies and modern network design initiatives.

Security & Compliance

  • Configures, monitors, and maintains firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, and other security appliances (Cisco, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Extreme Networks).
  • Ensures compliance with network security policies, encryption standards, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Supports secure connectivity for sensitive clinical applications and patient data.

Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Operations

  • Provides Level 2 escalation support, root cause analysis, and timely incident response.
  • Utilizes Syslog, ACS, NetFlow, SolarWinds, and protocol analyzers to assess network health.
  • Maintains operational rigor through ITSM practices including change control, CMDB updates, incident and problem management.
  • Oversees patching, scheduled maintenance, and continuous network optimization.

Healthcare‑Specific Responsibilities

  • Supports the network infrastructure requirements of clinical systems such as Epic, Cerner, and other healthcare information platforms.
  • Collaborates with clinical operations to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance for patient‑care-critical applications.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partners with vendors, service providers, and internal IT teams for issue resolution, technology evaluation, and implementation planning.
  • Develops and maintains clear documentation, architecture diagrams, and procedural guides.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service to end users across diverse hospital and outpatient settings.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • 3+ years of enterprise network engineering experience across multi‑site or multi‑level organizations.
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Extreme Networks, Palo Alto, wireless controllers, access points, and other network appliances.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise routing, switching, WLAN, and network security technologies.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • CCNA certification or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

  • 5 days on-site in either Binghapton,NY - Sayre, PA- OR Cortland,NY
  • Supports a regional healthcare footprint including sites in Sayre, Towanda, Troy, Corning, Cortland, and Binghamton.
  • Travel between sites is required.
  • Operates within a fast‑paced, always‑on healthcare environment where uptime and reliability are essential.
