IT Systems Administrator

Glocomms is partnering with a well-established civil engineering organization that is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain internal IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of network and server systems across multiple locations and remote users.

You'll work closely with IT leadership and internal teams to keep systems running smoothly while supporting ongoing infrastructure improvements and security initiatives.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and support network infrastructure, including servers, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and VPNs
  • Monitor system performance and ensure high availability across office and remote environments
  • Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, Group Policy, and hybrid identity environments
  • Support network security efforts including patching, monitoring, and issue escalation
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, server, and system performance issues
  • Support backups, disaster recovery, and data protection processes
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding by configuring user access and systems
  • Maintain documentation for network architecture, systems, and procedures
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors when needed

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in a network or systems administration role
  • Experience managing Windows Server environments and troubleshooting issues
  • Hands-on knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), and identity management
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
  • Experience with network monitoring tools and backup solutions
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Ability to recognize and escalate security-related issues
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience supporting multi-location or hybrid environments
  • Interest in security-first infrastructure and continuous improvement
