Lead Hardware Operations Engineer
Glocomms is partnering with a rapidly scaling technology company operating cutting-edge, hyper-scale data center infrastructure. We are supporting their search for an experienced Lead Hardware Operations Engineer to play a hands-on role in deploying, supporting, and maintaining high-performance server and network environments that operate 24/7. This is a senior, onsite technical role focused on hardware reliability, incident response, and serving as an escalation point within data center operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, deploy, and support server and network hardware in a large-scale data center environment
- Perform advanced hardware troubleshooting, repair, and part replacement while maintaining accurate asset tracking
- Support and diagnose network issues, including cabling (copper and fiber) and physical connectivity
- Act as onsite first responder for hardware incidents, coordinating with engineering and infrastructure SMEs as needed
- Prioritize and resolve operational tickets efficiently to maintain high system availability and SLA compliance
- Provide escalation support to junior technicians
- Participate in rotating shifts and/or on-call coverage to support a 24/7 operation
- Work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and partners to support ongoing infrastructure initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience troubleshooting server hardware, including:
- POST, BIOS, PXE
- IPMI / BMC and out-of-band management
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals:
- TCP/IP, Ethernet
- Switches, routers, console access
- Copper and fiber cabling
- Working Linux administration knowledge
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-availability environments
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience supporting GPU-based servers (e.g., modern accelerator platforms)
- Background or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience working in highly ambiguous, rapidly changing operational environments
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable collaborating across teams and stakeholders
