Manager, Platform Architecture
Glocomms is partnered with a cutting-edge HPC infrastructure firm to recruit a Manager of Platform Architecture who will lead the strategy, governance, and evolution of the company's core platform capabilities across hybrid cloud, on‑premises, and high‑performance computing environments.
You will own the platform architecture roadmap and the architecture decision‑making framework-spanning Cloud, Security, SDLC/API, and Data/Observability architecture domains. You'll chair architecture review boards, steward the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) process, and produce reference architectures, standards, and patterns that accelerate product delivery while strengthening reliability, resilience, and compliance. Partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Program Management, you'll champion platform maturity, self‑service capabilities, and data‑driven operational models that improve developer experience at scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own the platform architecture strategy, platform roadmap, and architectural decision‑making frameworks across cloud, security, SDLC/API, and data/observability domains.
- Lead architecture governance, including the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) process, design principles, standards, and reference architectures that ensure alignment across distributed teams.
- Guide hybrid and multi‑cloud architecture (AWS and Azure), Kubernetes platforms, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), GitOps workflows, and automation frameworks.
- Define and implement observability strategy and telemetry standards using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack; ensure robust instrumentation for performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Integrate CIS security controls, secure‑by‑default design principles, and compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) into platform designs supporting regulated and multi‑tenant environments.
- Strengthen developer enablement by maturing internal developer platforms, improving SDLC automation, advancing API lifecycle management, and supporting IDP solutions such as Backstage and Port.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Program Management to ensure architectural alignment, operational excellence, and successful execution of cross‑functional technical initiatives.
- Conduct platform maturity assessments, maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, and evaluate emerging technologies-including GenAI-to drive continuous platform improvement.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in platform, enterprise, or solution architecture within large‑scale, distributed, or HPC environments.
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture, hybrid cloud integration, Kubernetes, IaC, and automation-driven engineering practices.
- Strong knowledge of CIS benchmarks, DevSecOps principles, security frameworks, and compliance in regulated or multi‑tenant environments.
- Hands-on experience building observability and telemetry frameworks with modern tooling and data-driven operational models.
- Proven ability to drive architectural governance, influence cross‑functional stakeholders, and lead distributed technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear standards, patterns, and architectural narratives.

- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
