Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) - Job Description

About the Role

The Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) will serve as the strategic leader responsible for all revenue‑generating functions, including sales, marketing, customer success, partnerships, and growth operations. This executive will drive expansion of the company's Mainframe‑as‑a‑Service (MFaaS) offerings, managed hosting, colocation, disaster recovery, and legacy system support services. The role requires deep expertise in mainframe environments, modernization initiatives, and maintenance of legacy systems, as well as experience scaling recurring‑revenue technology or managed‑services businesses.


Key Responsibilities

Revenue Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive revenue growth strategy spanning mainframe hosting, disaster recovery, colocation, AS/400/iSeries, and hybrid managed services.
    Supported by the company's offerings in mainframe hosting, AS/400/iSeries hosting, and managed services.
  • Build, lead, and mentor high‑performing sales, marketing, and customer success teams to meet aggressive growth targets.
  • Establish data‑driven forecasting models, revenue reporting processes, and KPI frameworks.

Mainframe & Legacy Systems Expertise

  • Oversee revenue initiatives tied to Mainframe‑as‑a‑Service (including IBM z/OS, OS/390, z/VM, z/VSE) and ensure alignment with customer modernization needs.
    Based on the company's expertise supporting environments such as z/OS, OS/390, z/VM, and VSE, plus 25+ years of mainframe technical services experience.
  • Drive market positioning for services supporting legacy modernization, application maintenance, and remote support.
    Aligned with application maintenance, legacy mainframe modernization, and remote support offerings.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership to enhance managed services capabilities for clients maintaining critical legacy workloads.

Customer & Market Expansion

  • Expand relationships across key industries (government, finance, healthcare, education, manufacturing, logistics, etc.) that rely heavily on mission‑critical mainframe and legacy environments.
    These industries match the company's current MFaaS/managed hosting customer segments.
  • Champion a customer‑centric approach that delivers high‑touch service and 100% on‑shore support.
    Reflecting the company's emphasis on personalized, on‑shore managed services.
  • Identify and launch new service lines and partnership channels across the private cloud and managed hosting ecosystem.

Operational Alignment & Execution

  • Partner with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless delivery of hosting, remote support, and disaster recovery solutions.
    Based on the company's 24/7 managed services, remote support, and dedicated DR capabilities.
  • Lead pricing strategy, contract structuring, and recurring‑revenue optimization.
  • Support transition and migration projects for clients moving from on‑premise or aging environments into managed mainframe platforms.
    Aligned with the company's mainframe migration and seamless transition services.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in revenue‑generating roles within managed services, cloud hosting, data center operations, or enterprise software.
  • Direct experience with mainframe technologies and services is mandatory, including familiarity with IBM z/OS, OS/390, z/VM, z/VSE, and legacy system environments.
    Supported by the company's technical stack.
  • Proven success selling into highly regulated or mission‑critical industries.
  • Deep understanding of legacy system maintenance, modernization paths, and hybrid cloud integration.
    Reinforced by the company's legacy application maintenance and modernization offerings.
  • Track record of scaling ARR, building enterprise sales pipelines, and managing multi‑million‑dollar portfolios.
